CE courses meet IRS requirements for IRS Enrolled Agent continuing education and Completion of coursework will be reported to the IRS and is able to be tracked through the IRS' PTIN portal.
Federal Direct's tax preparer continuing education material will focus on individual tax return preparation. While our staff is knowledgeable in corporate taxation, we feel that the general population of tax practitioners will benefit most from individual (1040) tax return topics. Our educational material is developed in-house by licensed IRS enrolled agents, and our live webinars are also hosted by enrolled agents. All webinars conclude with a question and answer session where you are able to get your specific tax question or topic addressed and answered.
No two people are the same and that saying is even more relevant when it comes to how people learn best. Federal Direct offers three different methods to getting your IRS approved continuing education credits. Chose whichever method works best for you, or mix and match as you see fit.
We host live webinars roughly every other week, providing 1-3 credit hours of IRS continuing education. The webinars are viewable from anywhere you have a high speed internet connection (DSL, cable, or better). Our webinars are hosted by licensed IRS enrolled agents, and allow for your direct interaction via a live question and answer session at the end of each session. Within 24 hours of completing the webinar you will receive a confirmation email with a certificate of completion for the IRS continuing education credits provided.
Every live webinar that we host is recorded and then posted for archived viewing. You have access year round 24/7 access to these webinars for viewing at your leisure and on your schedule. These webinars can be viewed through windows media player and once you watch the archived webinar you will be prompted to complete a quiz covering the webinar material. The quiz will consist of 5 multiple choice and true or false questions for each IRS CE credit hour provided. You must pass the quiz with at least a 70% competency rate, and you can retake the quiz as many times a necessary to attain this passing rate. Once you pass the quiz you will receive a confirmation email with a certificate of completion for the IRS continuing education credits provided.
The third option available for tax preparer continuing education more of a traditional format; each continuing education course is presented with a series of PowerPoint slides and course printouts. These slides cover the main points and topics of the training course and are available for download and review. If you prefer to read your educational material, rather than watching and having it presented by a lecturer, this self study method is for you. Once you completely review the printed course slides and handouts, you will take an online quiz that consists of 5 multiple choice and true or false questions for each credit hour of content. You must pass the quiz with at least a 70% competency rate, and you can retake the quiz as many times a necessary to attain this passing rate. Once you pass the quiz you will receive a confirmation email with a certificate of completion for the IRS continuing education credits provided.
