The Tax Prep 101 course provides a comprehensive learning package for the foundational concepts of individual tax preparation. Common tax topics are broken down into plain language that is easy for beginner tax preparers to understand. Learning modules are delivered both live and pre-recorded so you can learn on your schedule. Online access is available 24/7/365. Some topics include: income reporting, dependents, healthcare and health insurance responsibilities, an introduction to ethical considerations and expanded tax preparer due diligence requirements, as well as walk through examples of form 1040 preparation.

Tax Prep 101 is meant for new tax preparers or those preparers that want to focus on the fundamentals of tax preparation. Traditionally about 90% of the tax returns you will prepare are very similar to one another. This basic tax preparation package targets getting you educated and up to speed on these common elements, so you feel comfortable dealing with tax clients this season! This basic tax training package will not only discuss the vocabulary of different elements of a tax return but will also go into details on identifying what forms your clients will bring you and then expand upon that as to where that would translate onto a tax return.

"Nothing is certain in the live other than Death and Taxes" - Benjamin Franklin
This famous quote is very telling of our industry, and why you should learn to be a tax preparer. Taxes are not going away any time soon, and if you are looking for a consistent profession that is in constant demand, tax preparation might be just the fit you have been looking for! The seasonality of tax preparation is also an important topic to consider, many tax preparers appreciate working hard throughout the 4 months of tax season, making an annual income in this short window of time and taking the rest of the year off ....

Whether you want to be your own boss and run your own tax prep service or you aspire to work in a national franchise or someone else's independent tax office, the fundamentals of tax preparation that you learn through Tax Prep 101, will stay with you and serve you long after you finish your training. Being knowledgeable in Tax Preparation not only should be looked at as a seasonal employment opportunity and potential year round career path, but also as a resource for running other business lines more efficiently, and managing your personal finances more responsibly.
